Daily Mail's Paterson story surfaces again

15 December 2010 09:56
Earlier this season the Daily Mail revealed that Martin Paterson would be sold to Derby County in the January transfer window and they've come up with the same story again today. They claim that Derby are ready to do business in a £1 million deal for the striker who signed a new deal in the summer at Turf Moor with Burnley wanting double that.Mind you, the Daily Mail also state that Pato has found opportunities limited since Laws became manager. Given that he was out with a long term injury when Laws arrived, given he missed a bulk of pre-season training this time round and has also been out for several games with injury since it wouldn't surprise if that was the case. But it simply isn't the case - only eight Burnley players have played more league games for the Clarets since Laws' arrival and only nine players have started more.Laws indicated on Monday at the club's AGM that there could be players both coming and going in January. Whether that includes Paterson remains to be seen, but the Daily Mail, the newspaper that gets more wrong stories about Burnley than the rest put together, have been keen on this one for some time.Meanwhile, it has been reported that Republic of Ireland club Bohemian have allowed their 20-year-old striker Patrick Madden to join us on trial. Madden, like Chris McCann, is a product of Home Farm and has established himself in the Bohs team after a loan at Shelbourne. They are currently in their close season and are in a very poor state financially having recently launched a 'Save Our Club' appeal. It is believed they would be looking for around £100,000 for the young striker.
