Cup shock delights Coyle
03 Dec 2008 - 07:57:21
Burnley manager Owen Coyle believes his players have a genuine chance of reaching the Carling Cup Final after defeating Arsenal 2-0 at the quarter-final stage.
Two goals from Kevin McDonald were enough to claim a third Premier League scalp of the competition for the Clarets following their previous victories over Chelsea and Fulham.
"Whoever we get (in the semi-final draw) we will be underdogs so it really doesn't matter who we get," said Coyle.
"There's only ourselves and three others in it so who knows what will happen."
Referring to the performance against a youthful Gunners side at Turf Moor, he added: "There was no difference tonight. That's the standard we have been setting ourselves.
"All we asked was that they come in after without regretting anything and they did that.
"It was a real football atmosphere here tonight and went a long way to adding to the history of this football club.
"To reach the semi-final is a magnificent achievement for the club."
