Assistant manager Sandy Stewart has agreed to leave St Johnstone and join Burnley boss Owen Coyle at Turf Moor.
Coyle took the reins at the Championship club last week and has now returned north of the border to sign up his former number two.
Stewart had been placed in caretaker charge of the Scottish first division club following Coyle's departure and has yet to put a timescale on his own exit.
"It's the hardest decision of my footballing career," he told the club's official website,
"The opportunity to work down south to help Owen try to take Burnley into the Premiership is just too great.
"Who knows, maybe in two or three years time I'll look back and regret the decision, but that is the chance you take and I know that I'll regret it if I don't try it out.
"Owen is keen to have me down there as soon as possible but he is very aware of the situation with Saints and is very grateful to them for the way they handled his departure.
"He won't be putting pressure on me in terms of timescales."
