Burnley manager Owen Coyle still believes the play-offs are a realistic goal despite Saturday's 3-1 home defeat at the hands of fellow challengers Wolves.
Individual mistakes from centre-half Clarke Carlisle and goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly handed the three points to the visitors, but Coyle has challenged his players to respond when they face Preston on Saturday.
Burnley are now three points and four places adrift of the play-off zone.
"We started the game well enough but we handed Wolves the game," Coyle told the club's official website.
"Mental strength is a big thing in football and we need people to stand up and be counted. I think we're still only three points off the play-offs so we'll lick our wounds and regroup.
"A derby with Preston probably couldn't be a better game.
"We have an opportunity to address what's happened and, if we can stop gifting goals, we could still have a terrific end to the season."
