Burnley have appointed Owen Coyle as their new manager after agreeing a three-and-half-year deal with the former St Johnstone boss.
The Clarets were given permission to speak to the 41-year-old former Bolton Wanderers striker on Wednesday and Coyle has now been unveiled as Steve Cotterill's successor at Turf Moor.
Coyle was handed his first full-time managerial position by St Johnstone in April 2005.
But despite guiding Saints to successive high finishes in the first division, his greatest achievement was taking the club to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup last season.
"There were some outstanding candidates for the post, but Owen has all the credentials to make a success of his appointment," chairman Barry Kilby told the club's official website.
"He is hungry for the opportunity to manage in England after an impressive start to his career in Scotland."
Operational director Brendan Flood added: "Owen has charisma and determination by the bucket-load and his win percentage of victories as manager also tells us that he is a winner.
"In four seasons as a manager he has been offered three SPL jobs, which is an indication of how highly he is rated.
"But importantly, Owen also fits our profile of wanting a young, hungry manager who can attract young players from the likes of Scotland and Ireland."
