Burnley boss Owen Coyle has warned his players that they can't afford any more slip-ups in they are to finish in the play-off picture.

The Clarets saw their top-six hopes severely dented by a 2-0 defeat at Hull City on Tuesday night to leave them four points shy of the play-off zone.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to high-flying Stoke City, Coyle has warned his side that another mistake in their final ten games could spell the end of their promotion dreams.

"As much as we know the spirit and hunger within the lads, we can't be gifting teams leads every week and expecting at every opportunity to come back," he said.

"I've stressed to the lads that, come this stage of the season, as years go by there are times you don't get involved in this sort of thing, so when you get an opportunity let's grasp it.

"Let's take the bull by the horns and make sure you're in that shake up.

"If it's not to be, then make sure it's not through lack of effort."
