Coyle: Clarets were unlucky
19 Oct 2009 - 07:21:20
Burnley boss Owen Coyle claimed his side were unlucky to lose 3-2 at local rivals Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
Robbie Blake had fired the Clarets into an early lead at Ewood Park before the home side replied with three goals of their own.
"I felt we were unlucky," said Coyle. "We started terrifically and scored a great goal. I think we offered enough to get a positive result.
"We carried the fight in the second half and had numerous chances, even in the last few minutes.
"We played some terrific football and there are an awful lot of positives to take from the match."
However, Coyle was unhappy that Rovers' second goal, which allowed them to take the lead for the first time, was allowed to stand.
He added: "I was convinced that (Franco) di Santo had moved into Stephen Jordan and did enough to put Brian Jensen off. That was my initial thought and you won't convince me otherwise.
"Those marginal decisions are going against us. But referees do the job to the best of their ability and I am not going to get caught up in that. We just have to get on with it."
