He has secured the services of defender David Edgar on a four-year deal after his contract with Newcastle expired. Coyle has also been busy off the field and persuaded officials to free up part of the David Fishwick Stand to home fans. It means 1500 new season tickets will be made available for general sale. With 15,000 supporters already on board for the Premier League campaign, Coyle's side will not lack backing. Coyle said: "I have pressed long and hard for the club to release 1500 more season tickets to ensure that the David Fishwick Stand is not taken up by 4,000 away supporters. "I am absolutely delighted with this news. Last season the Clarets supporters truly were our 12th man at Turf Moor and their backing helped us to reach the Premier League. "I am sure the extra 1500 season tickets, plus the 15,000 we have already sold, can only help us to stay there." Edgar will be unveiled to the media on Thursday along with record signing Steven Fletcher, a £3million buy from Hibernian. Coyle has also drafted in former Derby defender Tyrone Mears. Because Edgar is 22, Burnley are now in the process of trying to agree a fee with Newcastle. Edgar made seven starts for the club last season in which they were relegated to the Championship. He is keen to get a run of games under his belt after being frustrated at Newcastle. His agent Barry MacLean told Ontario newspaper The Record: "I'd say he's pretty happy. "We are looking for him to play regularly at this stage of his career. "For him to play regular first-team football is critical for him." Edgar's father Eddie played in goal for Newcastle and Hartlepool before emigrating to Canada.
