Steve Cotterill has left Burnley by mutual consent after three-and-a-half years in the managerial hot-seat at Turf Moor.
The former Cheltenham Town and Stoke City boss had guided the Clarets to 15th place in the Championship table this season but has left with immediate effect.
Cotterill was appointed Clarets boss in June 2004 and was the longest-serving manager in the Championship.
Former Claret Steve Davis had only been appointed as his assistant manager last week.
The club's former scout, first-team coach and also reserve team manager is expected to be handed caretaker charge of the club.
"Burnley Football Club can confirm that first-team manager Steve Cotterill has left the club by mutual consent," read an official statement.
"Burnley would like to place on record their thanks to Steve Cotterill for his hard work and commitment to the club since he took the role."
