Cotterill to leave Notts County

Reports this morning suggest that former Burnley manager Steve Cotterill is set to leave Notts County and that could mean him being ready to take over crisis club Portsmouth. Cotterill went to Notts in February with them just outside the play off positions, although they did have games in hand. They went on to win 14 out of their 18 remaining games with the only defeat coming at Port Vale once promotion had been confirmed, and ended the season as League Two champions. However, his contract was just until the end of the season. Notts County were thought to be keen to keep him but last week he was reported to have turned down the job at Coventry and is now very much one of the favourites to replace Avram Grant at Portsmouth. There has been no confirmation from Notts County as yet but with the rather dodgy administrator at Pompey continuing to confirm Cotterill as being on the short list it looks only a matter of time.
