Cort to stay at Preston but St. Ledger concerns are over

Our local radio station were hinting that Preston's Sean St. Ledger would be moving to Turf Moor in a deal that would see Leon Cort move permanently to Deepdale. That's been dismissed although Cort is likely to remain at Preston. Burnley have confirmed that they are currently negotiating with Preston regarding extending Cort's loan at Preston but there has been no confirmation of a permanent move although I do believe that could be in the offing later. Cort's current loan ends on New Year's Eve so any extension will be required immediately to enable him to continue playing in Preston's team.As for St. Ledger, last night's rumours even stretched as far as a move to the Premier League for the defender with West Brom supposedly interested but it now looks as though it is League One where he could be heading and a reunion with his former boss Alan Irvine at Sheffield Wednesday.Preston have confirmed Wednesday's enquiry that could see St. Ledger out of Deepdale during next month along with at least two other first team regulars as the Championship strugglers cut costs.
