Cork is Villa star

Jack Cork made his first start for Burnley last Sunday at Aston Villa and his performance, in Burnley's 5-2 defeat, saw him chosen as our best player on the day. Cork won both the man of the match vote on the site and the message board's player ratings. Neither were close as the loanee from Chelsea won them both by some distance. He polled no less than 72.6% of the vote and that was the second highest of the season, behind only Brian Jensen at Chelsea. No other player reached double figures with Chris Eagles getting second place with 8.4% and David Nugent coming third with 5.4%.It was the same story in the player ratings. Cork scored 7.46 out of 10 and that was way ahead of the rest with only Steven Fletcher, with a rating of 6.04, getting above the average six mark. Nugent was again third with a rating of 5.73 out of 10.Cork therefore gets the maximum six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with Eagles, Fletcher and Nugent all picking up two points each. The points make little difference to the table with Eagles and Fletcher extending their first and second place leads above the rest. For Cork, the six points are added to the two he won from his substitute appearance against Fulham. The Current Table63: Chris Eagles49: Steven Fletcher40: Andre Bikey32: Tyrone Mears30: Brian Jensen26: Clarke Carlisle15: Stephen Jordan14: Wade Elliott & Kevin McDonald13: David Nugent10: Graham Alexander & Michael Duff8: Jack CorkDavid Edgar7: Leon Cort6: Fernando Guerrero5: Chris McCann4: Danny Fox & Joey Gudjonsson2: Robbie Blake & Diego Penny1: Steven Caldwell
