Cork and Grant - top two at Scunthorpe game

04 January 2011 23:03
It seems hardly appropriate naming anyone as man of the match from last week's 2-0 home defeat against Scunthorpe. The performance was so poor there wasn't one player who could be entitled to claim it. However, the voting was held as were the player ratings on the message board and the two players coming out on top were midfielder Jack Cork and goalkeeper Lee Grant.Cork was the winner of the man of the match poll with 28.0% of the vote with Grant's 19.0% share of the vote giving him second place. Chris Eagles, introduced as a substitute at half time came in third with 17.3% of the vote. The player ratings saw the same three players in the top three places. This time it was Grant who took first place and his rating of 6.14 out of 10 was the only one to beat 6, the figure for an average performance.Cork was second with a rating of 5.62 and again Eagles was third and his rating was 5.21 out of 10.That gives both Cork and Grant five points with two for Eagles. Those points see Cork with an 18 point lead at the top of the Player of the Year Table with Eagles in second place. Grant has now moved into fifth place having moved above both Tyrone Mears and Wade Elliott. The voting for the Sheffield United man of the match ends at midnight tonight and on the next three days - Wednesday to Friday - you will be able to vote for the Reading man of the match.Clarets Mad Player of the Year61: Jack Cork43: Chris Eagles33: Andre Bikey25: Clarke Carlisle20: Lee Grant18: Tyrone Mears17: Wade Elliott14: Jay Rodriguez13: Chris Iwelumo11: Brian Jensen9: Brian Easton & Dean Marney8: Michael Duff & Ross Wallace6: Martin Paterson3: Leon Cort & John Guidetti2: Steven Thompson1: Graham Alexander & Danny Fox
