Clarke Carlisle Carlisle proves worth with Burnley

Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle believes he has made the most of his opportunity to impress boss Brian Laws following injury to Michael Duff. Duff is nursing a calf injury sustained in the opening-day win over Nottingham Forest, and Carlisle came on to replace him before deputising from the start at Ipswich on Saturday. Carlisle has been happy with his impact in his two appearances and was particularly delighted to score the Clarets' equalising goal in the 1-1 draw at Portman Road. Carlisle said: "It's a shame that it's come from my colleague's misfortune because he had done everything right through pre-season and through no fault of his own he's found an injury. "But that's where I have to seize my opportunity and I feel that I've put in two good performances."
