Burnley are believed to be close to naming the St Johnstone manager Owen Coyle as their new boss.
Coyle is reported to have pipped Peter Reid to the Turf Moor hot-seat after impressing at a Monday interview.
The 41-year-old will succeed Steve Cotterill who left the Clarets earlier this month.
It is thought Burnley will have to pay a figure in the region of £150,000 to the Scottish First Division side for the former much-travelled striker.
Coyle has been in charge at McDiarmid Park since April 2005 and guided the club to a famous League Cup win against Rangers 18 months later.
He led the Perth-based side to the semi-finals of the Scottish FA Cup last season and to a second-placed finish in the first division, only missing out on promotion to Gretna on the last day of the campaign.
