Clarets swoop for Kalvenes

Burnley manager Owen Coyle has continued his rebuilding job at Turf Moor by snapping up former Dundee United defender Christian Kalvenes on a Bosman free transfer.
The 31-year-old Norwegian left-back has signed a two-year deal with the Clarets after spending the last two seasons at Tannadice.
Former St Johnstone manager Coyle told the club's official website: "I'm obviously delighted to have secured the signature of Christian, who I've naturally been aware of from my time in Scotland.
"I think he was the best full-back in Scotland last year and, as he was available on a Bosman, we took the opportunity to try to lure him to the club.
"We had to beat off some serious competition, particularly from one major force in British football, so we're absolutely delighted to have him on board and look forward to working with him."
Since selling Kyle Lafferty to Rangers, Coyle has signed Martin Paterson and Kevin McDonald, while Peruvian goalkeeper Diego Penny will also move to Turf Moor subject to a work permit appeal.
