Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has admitted that full-back Jon Harley picked up a suspected broken foot during his side's dismal 3-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The former Chelsea, Fulham and Sheffield United left-back was forced to leave the pitch just before the hour mark at The Hawthorns and Cotterill fears the worst when the results of the X-ray are made known.
He told the club's official website: "Jon has hurt his foot and he thought it was similar to when he broke it before.
"We just hope and pray that when we have that X-rayed this week, that it's nothing that bad because that is probably the last thing we need.
"Maybe something has come out of today and if that is that Jon is not injured long-term, we will be relieved. We will just have to wait and see and hope he is okay."
Cotterill was also upset after his side were demolished by three first-half goals against one of their promotion rivals and the loss of Frank Sinclair, who was sent off for two bookable offences.
He added: "Make no bones about it, West Brom have got the best collective group of players in this division by a mile and sometimes you cannot always stop that quality coming through.
"Nothing really surprised us because we know they have good players. We just started the game poorly and got caught with something we've worked and talked about this week."
