Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has admitted he could lose goalkeeper Lee Grant who looks set to return to Derby once his loan spell end after this weekend.

The 22-year-old has spent the last two months at the club to provide cover for Brian Jensen and Danny Coyne but Cotterill says the finances required to extend the deal mean he is likely to go back to Pride Park.

The Clarets are still lacking cover in that area but it remains to be seen if Cotterill will bring anyone else in.

"I haven't spoken to Granty yet, but I'm pre-empting that the likelihood is he will go back to Derby," said the Clarets boss.

"It's not because I want him to, but because he earns quite a good wage and we may not be able to afford that and if he goes back he may go on loan somewhere else where he will play all the time.

"He's been fantastic for us, a great lad and he has supported Brian as well as anyone coming in could've done. He's fitted in with the lads perfectly too and we've really enjoyed having him here. If it wasn't for the money or the fact he wanted to play every week, we would keep him here."
