Burnley manager Steve Cotterill has pulled off a major coup by snapping up the former Manchester City defender Stephen Jordan on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Clarets after being released by City at the end of last season.
Cotterill told the club's official website: "We're delighted to have Stephen on board.
"He was one of the first players that I spoke to in the summer and it's taken a long time to land him due to there being a fair bit of interest from the Premiership.
"But I think with coming towards the start of the season, Stephen decided he didn't want to wait around any longer and has decided to come to Burnley Football Club.
"As I said, we're delighted to have him and he'll give us good competition and extra defensive cover."
Jordan came through the youth team ranks at City and made 64 first-team appearances for the club.
