Burnley have rejected an approach from Wolves for Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty.
The 19-year-old striker recently signed a new long-term contract tying him to Turf Moor until 2010 after Celtic tabled a £500,000 bid during the last transfer window.
However, Wolves boss Mick McCarthy contacted his Clarets counterpart Steve Cotterill to enquire about the talented teenager's availability.
"Mick McCarthy called me and he enquired about Kyle, although there were no bids made," Cotterill told the Burnley Express.
"It didn't take me long to say we didn't want Kyle to go anywhere.
"Their chief executive Jez Moxey then spoke to our chairman and that was rebuffed. We wouldn't want to sell Kyle."
