Burnley have put their bid to sign Aleksandr Solovjovs on hold after failing to agree a fee with the Latvian trialist's club.
Solovjovs, 20, impressed Clarets boss Owen Coyle while training with the Championship club last month.
However, Coyle has been unable to agree a suitable fee with JFK Olimps Riga his current club side.
"What they're asking for is a bit more than what we're wanting to pay," he revealed.
"I wouldn't say the door is closed but we won't be doing anything imminently."
