Clarets move for Pollitt

Burnley have signed veteran goalkeeper Mike Pollitt on a month's loan from Wigan Athletic.

The 34-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Premiership club following the arrival of England international Chris Kirkland in the summer.

Pollitt - who has made over 500 career appearances - played once for the Clarets' Championship rivals Ipswich Town earlier this season, before being recalled by the Latics.

The Farnworth-born custodian began his career at Manchester United and moved to Wigan for £200,000 from Rotherham United.

Meanwhile, Burnley have agreed to sell Micah Hyde to Peterborough United in a deal worth £100,000.
