Burnley chief executive Dave Edmundson insists the high-flying Championship club are doing all they can behind the scenes to support manager Steve Cotterill in the transfer market.
In recent weeks Cotterill has reiterated his desire to strengthen the playing squad despite a lack of funds at Turf Moor.
And, after seeing Cotterill mastermind the Clarets' rise to third in the table, the board have revealed that they are actively seeking further investment.
"Burnley Football Club wishes to reassure supporters that, while player sales are inevitably an option for the majority of Football League and Premiership clubs, current boardroom discussion surrounds the need to actively seek investment to strengthen the squad, not weaken it by selling a major asset," revealed Edmundson.
"Significant losses were inevitable with match day revenues being affected by league position and lack of a lucrative cup run. However, such losses are budgeted for.
"The Burnley board of directors are looking to redress this deficit and options such as future private investment and director loans are ways of doing this."
