Burnley manager Owen Coyle has made an improved offer for Scunthorpe United striker Martin Paterson.
The Clarets failed with an initial bid for the 21-year-old Northern Ireland international earlier this month, but Coyle is determined to sign a player who found the net 14 times in the campaign just ended.
Coyle told the club's official website: "Suffice to say we've moved things on with different people. A couple of things have progressed.
"We've made an improved offer for Martin Paterson, and we await Scunthorpe's reply."
