Burnley boss Owen Coyle is hoping to make Manchester United midfielder Chris Eagles his sixth signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old would cost the Clarets in the region of £1.5million, but Coyle hopes he can beat off competition from Derby County to snap up the Hemel Hempstead-born player.
Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It's a bit more complicated in that there's another club interested in him, but he has real quality.
"We had a terrific meeting with him and his representative, obviously with permission from his club, because there'd be a big fee involved in that."
