The Football Association has charged Burnley with failing to control their players during the Clarets' FA Cup third round defeat against Arsenal at Turf Moor earlier this month.

The Burnley players were furious when Kyle Lafferty was dismissed on the hour mark for a two-footed lunge at Gilberto Silva.

They surrounded referee Alan Wiley following the controversial decision which came at a time when the Gunners were leading by one goal.

Arsene Wenger's side went on to win the encounter 2-0 thanks to Nicklas Bendtner's 75th-minute goal.

The Championship side have until January 24 to respond to the charge.
