Clarets exit for O'Connor

Burnley midfielder James O'Connor has left the club after failing to agree terms on a new Turf Moor contract.

Clarets manager Owen Coyle decided to withdraw the offer of a new deal after growing frustrated with the 28-year-old former Stoke City star's attitude.

Coyle told Burnley's official website: "James said that he would think over the offer we made him and, after speaking to him again on Thursday, he felt that he wanted the opportunity to see what was out there.

"And at that point, given that he couldn't commit to the club, we've parted ways.

"James worked hard for us and did well and he was a great lad to work with, but I need people to commit, so he leaves with our best wishes."

O'Connor scored 11 times in 151 appearances for the club.
