Clarets clinch sixth signing

Burnley have completed their sixth move of the transfer window after landing Chelsea midfielder Jack Cork on loan.

Cork, 20, has joined the Clarets on a deal which runs until the end of the season.

The England Under-21 international has followed Frederic Nimani, Leon Cort, Nicky Weaver, Danny Fox and David Nugent into Turf Moor since Brian Laws arrived as manager earlier in the month.

Cork has spent time on loan in the Championship with Scunthorpe United, Watford and Coventry City in recent seasons.

"I've tracked him for quite a while. He's played a lot of games in the Championship and has been greatly admired for his football," Laws told the club's official website.

"It's an addition to the midfield where I feel we need to strengthen, having picked up a couple of little injuries and niggles.

"He's very good on the ball, can deal with it in tight situations, doesn't give it away cheaply and he's a quality player.

"He's got good energy levels and he can pick a pass and we need that quality on the ball. I think his qualities will embrace the fact that we want to play good football."
