Clarets: Laws not for the sack

Burnley have categorically denied a national newspaper report suggesting that they are about to replace manager Brian Laws after just over two months in charge at Turf Moor.

The Sun had claimed that the Clarets had already begun the search for a successor to Laws, a move which has been strenuously denied by the Premier League strugglers.

Chairman Barry Kilby told the club's official website: "This is a ludicrous, irresponsible, damaging and inaccurate piece of journalism.

"We are not in the process of looking for a replacement for Brian and everyone involved with Burnley Football Club is putting every ounce of effort into staying in the Premier League."

Burnley have won just once since Laws took charge following the departure of Owen Coyle for Bolton Wanderers and they are currently three points away from the safety mark.
