The Premier League strugglers have moved to bolster their ranks for the second time on transfer deadline day, having earlier on Monday secured David Nugent's services in a similar arrangement.

Cork spent the first half of the season on loan at Coventry City, where he impressed in making 21 appearances.

He said: "I am very excited about the future after playing in the Championship the last three years with various clubs.

"It was great experience and hopefully I can now push on in the Premier League. I want to impress people.

"Football is all about taking opportunities. I'll be training hard and hopefully playing well."

Cork, son of former Wimbledon favourite Alan, has previously accrued experience in the Football League but this is his first top-flight loan move.

The England Under-21 international signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge in August and has also had loan spells with Southampton, Watford, Scunthorpe and Bournemouth.
