Over the weekend there was much speculation that Burnley Football Club were about to appoint a new man to the Board of Directors, Nelson born John Banaszkiewicz. Jalan Besar Stadium where Burnley will compete for the FIS Asia CupKnown to his friends as John B, he sent up the company Freight Investor Solutions (FIS) in 2002, a company that has gone from strength to strength in almost eight years of business. His name was not one I'd heard previously in connection with the Clarets but all of a sudden, today, he's emerged as the sponsor of our pre-season trip to Singapore and is currently out there setting things up with chief executive Paul Fletcher.Fletcher has said from Singapore: "I've spent an enjoyable and hectic few days in the company of John B. He is not only the major sponsor for the big match on our tour of Singapore but as Managing Director and owner of FIS and a range of other companies around the world, he has helped to introduce Burnley Football Club to Asia for the first time."He has worked tirelessly over the last few days to make sure the tour is a big success. Only Liverpool have visited Singapore to date, and I am sure Burnley Football Club will be fine ambassadors to follow."The club still await official ratification of their games but two will be played against Singapore 'S League' teams whilst the final game, for the FIS Asian Cup, will be played against the Games team at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Our pre-season scheduleSat 10 Jul - Bury (a) 3:00 p.m.Mon 12 Jul - Oldham (a) 7:00 p.m. Tue 20 Jul - Home United (S League) 7:30 p.m. Thu 22 Jul - S League team 7:30 p.m. Sat 24 Jul - Asian Games Team - 7:30 p.m. Sat 31 Jul - Stoke City (h) 3:00 p.m. tba - Accrington (a)The kick off times of 7:30 p.m. in Singapore are local time which is 12:30 p.m. in the UK.
