Clarets target Dawson

Burnley's search for new defenders could take them to West Brom with a potential loan move for Craig Dawson the former Rochdale defender who Brian Laws was keen to bring to Turf Moor a year ago. Laws confirmed at the Clarets Mad 'Laying Down The Laws' night that he was very much a target but we missed out when West Brom boss Roberto di Matteo snapped him up and allowed him to go straight back to Rochdale on a season long loan.Whilst out on loan, the 21-year-old has seen a change of manager at the Hawthorns with Roy Hodgson taking over and although Hodgson has publicly said he'll want him back next season there have been suggestions from the Dawson camp that he will be allowed out on loan again should the right Championship club come in for him. Hodgson said recently: "I'm not looking to loan him out. He's had his loan spell and now at the age of 21 he's had two and half years of football. We bought him to be a player here, not so others could benefit. "I'm looking forward to working with him but I don't know much about him yet. The reports I've seen have been positive and everyone tells me has a good career ahead of him, so he needs to show me and the rest of the staff that those reports are correct." Dawson was keen on a move to Burnley a year ago and it is thought he'd be keen on Turf Moor again should the option of a loan become available and it would be np surprise to see him in the centre of our defence early next season.
