The 25-year-old midfielder has also been targeted by clubs in France but his preferred option is a transfer to England.
Holmen has been capped 15 times by Sweden, but denies that he has had any direct contact with the Lancashire club.
"There are always rumours, but there are probably clubs who keep an eye on me," he told Onside.dk. "The Premier League would be fantastic for me. I believe that league would suit me fine."
Owen Coyle's Clarets are currently preparing for the game against Wigan on Saturday after losing to arch-rivals Blackburn last time out.
