Clarets hope to make signings

urnley have issued a statement reassuring supporters that efforts are being made to sign new players following a number of summer departures.[LNB] Defender Danny Fox became the latest Clarets player to exit Turf Moor on Thursday after he joined Championship rivals Southampton for an undisclosed fee, described by Burnley as "too good to turn down".[LNB]Fox's move away from the club followed the sale of key players Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles to Bolton, but the Clarets said financial prudence was paramount and new players could soon arrive.[LNB]A club statement said: "In the case of Danny Fox, as with other summer departures, the offer the club received was one that the board could not refuse.[LNB]"We currently have firm cash bids in for a number of players and we are very hopeful that in the next week a number of new arrivals will help to reinforce our policy and allow the manager to create a strong unit that will bring success in the seasons to come."[LNB]
