Clarets hit five in tour opener

Burnley secured a comfortable 5-0 win over Gombak United in the first game of their Singapore tour. The Clarets were largely frustrated in the first half, but broke the deadlock three minutes before the break when new signing Ross Wallace capitalised on some neat interplay from Wade Elliot and Dean Marney. Three minutes into the second period Chris Eagles collected a pass from Wallace to drive home. Eagles, who spurned the advances of Rangers last week, crossed for Chris Iwelumo to head a third after an hour. Steven Thompson then scored in similar fashion, with Elliot this time the provider. Jay Rodriguez completed the scoring for Brian Laws' side with 13 minutes remaining, slotting home from the penalty spot after David Edgar was fouled.
