Clarets hit by McCann injury blow

McCann sustained medial knee ligament damage during Saturday's 3-1 win over Sunderland. The influential midfielder picked up the injury in a challenge with Black Cats defender Michael Turner and was forced to limp off after 28 minutes. Scans have confirmed Burnley's worst fears and McCann now faces up to three months on the sidelines. The news is a blow to Owen Coyle's plans with McCann impressing so far this season and it could mean an extended run in the side for Joey Gudjonsson who replaced McCann against Sunderland.
