urnley boss Brian Laws has admitted he held talks with Billy Sharp after the Sheffield United striker appeared to snub a move to Turf Moor.[LNB] The Clarets had an offer for Sharp accepted but talks between the player and club amounted to nothing.[LNB]Yet Laws says he is happy with the strikers currently at his disposal and is tipping homegrown frontman Jay Rodriguez to compete strongly for a striking berth along with Steve Thompson, Martin Paterson and summer signing Chris Iwelumo.[LNB]"I know Billy Sharp is one player who has been in the mix but we are considering all options," said Laws. "We are not confirming anything one way or another, other than to say he is one of a number of players we have talked to.[LNB]"But I am not going to dismiss the fact we have already got four quality strikers who are all proven in the Championship. In Jay Rodriguez we have a player who I think could blossom this year. He's one I am looking forward to seeing push harder towards the team."
