Clarets face MK Franchise at home in cup

27 August 2011 21:35
It's not often we get the rub of the green with cup draws but we can hardly complain with this season's Carling Cup. After beating Burton and Barnet at home in the first two rounds we've now been paired with MK Franchise in round three, again at home. It's the second time the two clubs have come up against each other in cup competitions; the other occasion being the FA Cup 3rd round in January 2010, the game that proved to be Owen Coyle's last as manager. We won 2-1 on that occasion. This tie will be played at Turf Moor in week commencing 19th September with the most likely date being Tuesday 20th September. This round sees the introduction of the teams who are playing in European competitions this season and the full draw is: Cardiff v Leicester Wolves v Millwall Chelsea v Fulham Aldershot or Carlisle v Rochdale Arsenal v Shrewsbury Burnley v MK Franchise Leeds v Manchester United Brighton v Liverpool Nottingham Forest v Newcastle Manchester City v Birmingham Blackburn v Leyton Orient or Bristol Rovers Swindon or Southampton v Charlton or Preston Everton v West Brom Crystal Palace or Wigan v Middlesbrough Aston Villa v Bolton Stoke v Tottenham
