Clarets closing in on Hines

16 August 2011 09:05
Much of the speculation yesterday was that West Ham's Zavon HInes would be joining the Clarets in the near future and that is now looking increasingly likely. This morning I spoke to Graeme Howlett, who is the editor of Knees Up Mother Brown our Championship partner site, and he believes a deal to be close with Hines having said his goodbyes to friends at their Chadwell Heath training centre. He revealed that injuries have seriously curtailed his chances of breaking into the first team at West Ham but that the Jamaican born striker has had his moments, none more so than in a performance against Liverpool when he gave Jamie Carragher a difficult time in a game played at the Boleyn Ground in September 2009. According to Graeme the fee would be just a nominal one for a player who is out of contract at West Ham and he believes he's a player who is well worth a gamble and a player who could score goals at Championship level.
