Clarets boss relishing kick-off
The Clarets continue their pre-season preparations in Scotland this week when they face Kilmarnock on Thursday and his former side St Johnstone two days later.
Coyle said: "We've done the longer fitness stuff, now we will look to add that sharpness and make sure we're ready to go.
"Nobody ever handed us anything. We earned the right to be in the Premier League by working hard and showing quality. That's what we'll have to do again.
"There's tremendous anticipation and sense of excitement, and when it comes about we have to make sure we're ready for it."
