Clarets boss eyes new signings

On their return to the top flight, the Clarets succumbed to two set-pieces, with Ryan Shawcross heading the opener from a Liam Lawrence free-kick and Stephen Jordan glancing a trademark Rory Delap long throw into his own net. Coyle said: "We know we can defend a lot better. Whether we have got anyone in to help by Wednesday, time will tell - but we certainly need to cut out those mistakes. "We are always looking to improve our squad," he added. "In terms of Premier League spending, we are spending a nominal amount. "If I can get funding released we will try to improve it. But if not, we will make the best of what we have got and look to be positive in each and every game we play."
