Southampton had what looked the most difficult game with the visit of Middlesbrough. Beaten only once all season, Middlesbrough went into the game just behind in third place but were outplayed as the Saints won easily by a 3-0 scoreline. It's galling for Burnley fans with three former players in the Southampton side. Danny Fox, I am told, is playing well but the real star at the moment is Richard Chaplow who is apparently in the form of his life.
They are six points clear of the play off positions with West Ham, winners over managerless Leicester. West Ham looked to be cruising at one time but were hanging on at the end at 3-2. Leicester, meanwhile, continue to look for a new manager to replace Sven who spent Saturday either counting his money or watching Nancy Dell'Olio on Strictly.
Hull are back in the play off positions but Birmingham could be one to watch. They've kept two clean sheets this week and picked up four points. That's four clean sheets in a row for a defence marshalled by Steven Caldwell although the draw on Saturday came against a Brighton side who have failed to win any of their last eight games.
Birmingham are now just three points behind the play offs with two games in hand. European football at St. Andrew's is holding back their league ambitions right now and again this week their league game has been postponed.
Down at the bottom it was honeymoon period underway for Derek McInnes at Bristol City. They won at Barnsley to draw level on points with Willie McKay's Doncaster where the honeymoon looks well and truly over for now.
I hope the Bristol City honeymoon doesn't last too long. They haven't won a home game this season and we're there next.
Coventry have joined them in the bottom three. That's hardly a surprise to me having seen them last week. They've replaced Watford who climbed out with a win against Peterborough.

The leading goalscorers list looks good right now - with only Rickie Lambert (Southampton ) and Ross McCormack (Leeds) ahead of Charlie Austin, who used to build walls before he started scoring goals. That will be around the time that Ross Wallace was playing in white, and we know why he doesn't any longer.
