Championship FTBpro PFA Fan Player Of The Year Contender: Jason Shackell - Burnley
Burnley have been THE surprise package in the Championship this season, but the consistent performances of Shackell has come as no shock to those who have monitored his career from Norwich to Derby before his arrival at Turf Moor in July, 2012.
Being named club captain within a month of signing said much about the character of a respected central defender who gives much of the credit for his own development, and that of the team as a whole, to manager Sean Dyche.
The Burnley boss has suddenly become a much sought-after commodity after guiding Burnley to the Premier League against all the odds, but Shackell hopes the manager who has invested so much faith in the whole squad will remain loyal to the cause.
Shackell, who played every minute of every league game for the Clarets, says: “The gaffer has been fantastic and the job he has done on the budget he’s got has been incredible.
“He's got his philosophies and the way he wants to do things and the lads have really bought into it. He's been a huge part of it and I give him as much credit as I can.
"With the job he's done here he's always going to attract attention. That's always a worry but for us we need to enjoy it and the gaffer needs to enjoy it because he's done a fantastic job. I'm sure he's going to be linked with jobs left, right and centre, but at the minute he's the Burnley manager and hopefully it stays that way."
