Casual enquiry has been stepped up for Treacy

Last week Preston's chairman Maurice Lindsay confirmed that we'd made what he described as a casual enquiry for their Republic of Ireland international and former Blackburn player Keith Treacy. I wondered what casual meant but whatever the case it looks as though we've gone further than that with at the very least a full enquiry and, according to some sources, an offer for the 22-year-old wide man. Howe is keen to increase his options on the left hand side of the pitch and Treacy, who scored at Burnley last season, their second in Burnley's 4-3 win, would very much fit that bill. Having been relegated at the end of last season Treacy is keen to be playing above League One level and has spoken to manager Phil Brown. "We had a meeting and he’s just put a price on my head and said, ‘if it gets met, all well and good, we won’t hold you back’. We’ll have to wait and see now if a club is interested or what’s going to happen but I’m hopeful, yeah, because I want to play at the highest level I possibly can. “I feel maybe the Championship or the Premiership at a push would be ideal for me. I think I’m a little bit better than League One if I’m being honest.”
