Carlisle eyeing Clarets improvement

Centre-back Carlisle was part of the rearguard which was dismantled at White Hart Lane, with Robbie Keane scoring four and Jermaine Jenas also netting. The heavy defeat added to Burnley's woe on the road this season and Carlisle acknowledges that last season's Championship play-off winners must improve. "I feel that we contributed to their goals more than they did," he said in The Sun after the Premier League humbling at Spurs. "We caused ourselves too many problems and at this level you will be exposed. It is never good to be on the end of a 5-0. "But with each goal there were two, three or four people who could have done something different. "You defend as a team but our strikers and midfield put in a fair shift. As a defensive four we must do our job. "You strive throughout your career to play at this level and you need to make sure that when you get here you give a good account of yourself. "We have to be at peak performance every week."
