Burnley central defender Clarke Carlisle is delighted to be back in contention for a first-team spot after a frustrating spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old featured in a friendly against Bohemians at the end of last week and is now bidding for a recall to Owen Coyle's starting eleven.
He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "It's been a frustrating six weeks or so, it always is when you're out, but you have to focus on the positives.
"Positive thinking is always good, you don't want to keep yourself down, you could always be in a worse position, but I'm not.
"Now we're at the end of the tunnel, so let's hope I can put in a few good performances now and fight for my place back in the side.
"It's definitely going to be tough to get back in the side, no-one's place is assured, everyone has to be on their mettle because there's someone champing at the bit to take their place."
