Carlisle prepared to wait for right appointment

Clarke Carlisle has urged Burnley`s board to remain patient as they look to name a new manager. The Clarets are on the lookout for a successor to Brian Laws, who was sacked two weeks ago, and the central defender wants to see the club get the right man rather than rushing to appoint a new boss. "We would much rather the board took their time to make the right appointment instead of having some kind of knee-jerk reaction to desperately get someone in quickly," Carlisle told the Lancashire Telegraph. "It is in the interests of us as players and of Burnley football club that we take the time to make the right appointment instead of just getting who or whatever is around. "As players we just have to get on with our jobs. I think it was testament to the club that in this interim period we got a good result and managed to put in a professional performance to see off a potential banana skin against Port Vale."
