Carlisle hopes to stay on radar

Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle is hoping his three-match ban does not mean he will slip down the pecking order at Turf Moor.

Carlisle begins the suspension at Sheffield United this weekend following his red card in the recent 1-1 draw at Millwall.

The Clarets centre-back admits his controversial dismissal was a bitter pill to swallow and will now watch with interest as to how the team fares in his absence.

"It was a bitter pill to swallow because I feel I have got back into the side and done well," Carlisle told Clarets Player.

"I've enjoyed playing alongside Andre (Bikey) and I've just got to hope that whoever steps in does just enough and not enough to displace me.

"But I will be watching and hoping the guys do a fantastic job. I have supreme confidence that whoever plays in those positions will do a great job."
