Carlisle and Iwelumo on the move

Two players who were with Burnley until the end of the 2010/11 season have made loan moves this week with Clarke Carlisle rejoining Northampton and Chris Iwelumo signing for Notts County. Chris Iwelumo goes to Notts County on loan

I missed Carlisle's move. He spent the second half of last season with Northampton and manager Aidy Boothroyd was keen to sign him permanently in the summer. However, it was York where Carlisle headed during August.

He's played 14 times for the Minstermen but on Monday did make the move back to Northampton in a loan deal until the January window although it does look as though a deal could be in place for him to sign permanently in the New Year.

The last of those York appearances was their FA Cup defeat at AFC Wimbledon on 12th November. He made the move to Northampton a week later and on Tuesday night made his second debut for  them in a 3-0 win against Morecambe.

It looked as though no former Burnley players had moved yesterday as the emergency loan window closed but at lunchtime today Notts County confirmed the signing of Chris Iwelumo until 1st January.

Iwelumo has played eight times for his parent club Watford this season but hasn't featured since a 2-1 win at Charlton on 2nd October when he came on as a late substitute for Troy Deeney.

He's scored just once, in the Capital Cup win against Wycombe and now goes straight into the Notts squad for their home game against Swindon.
