Burnley's squad of 22 makes 23

Burnley are on their way to the South West of England with a 22 or 23 man squad depending on whether you believe names or numbers. Steven Hewitt travels with the first team The club confirmed this morning that there were 23 players making the trip and then proceeded to name a squad of 22. With Chris Iwelumo now a Watford player the surprise omissions from the squad are central defender Leon Cort, and young professionals Alex-Ray Harvey, who was with the first team in Singapore a year ago, and Dominic Knowles, a player who made the bench for the last league game of the 2010/11 season. Cort has featured in both of the pre-season friendlies to date having returned from a loan last season at Preston but it look as though he could be following the likes of Graham Alexander, Clarke Carlisle and Chris Iwelumo out of the club having missed out on this trip. Although Harvey and Knowles remain at home, scholar Steven Hewitt, as we confirmed yesterday, makes the trip, as do three of last season's development squad - Wes Fletcher, Alex MacDonald and Kevin Long. The full travelling squad (or 22 of them) are: Brian Jensen, Lee Grant, Michael Duff, Tyrone Mears, Brian Easton, Andre Bikey, Danny Fox, David Edgar, Ben Mee, Kevin Long, Wade Elliott, Chris McCann, Chris Eagles, Dean Marney, Ross Wallace, Marvin Bartley, Steven Hewitt, Martin Paterson, Jay Rodriguez, Charlie Austin, Wes Fletcher and Alex MacDonald.
